HostsThe friendly hosts of Shearwater Hideaway are Terry Melvin and Laura Brearley. One of our great pleasures in life is to create beautiful places and invite people in to enjoy them. We worked for many years in big and busy jobs and have now made a sea change in order to live a more balanced lifestyle. We are aware of the pressures of the workplace and the busyness of people’s lives. Our vision for Shearwater Hideaway is to provide a place where people can rest and reconnect with themselves, their friends and with the beauty of the natural environment. |

| Commitment to the Environment We have a commitment to … Conserving energy and reducing our footprint on the environment. We have installed rainwater tanks and this water is now in domestic use in the laundry, toilets and showers. This is gradually being extended for garden use as well. Solar panels have recently been added. |
Commitment to Social Justice We have a commitment to … Sharing our resources with those in need. We donate $5.00 for every night a guest stays with us to a designated charity. This year, our donations are being directed to Medecins Sans Frontiere. |
| Commitment to the Arts We have a commitment to … Supporting those who make a creative contribution to our culture. During our off-peak season, subsidised rental is available for creative artists, writers and musicians. |
