Each year in April the short-tailed shearwater birds return to the waters near the Aleutian Islands after nesting on Phillip Island. The fledgling birds are often disoriented by the lights on the Island and land on the roads or populated areas. Local volunteers work with Nature Park Rangers to rescue these birds off the roads and take injured birds into care.
